EVOKE! 10 – “Public Art Space” Installation in Trafalgar Square, London by Contra

The Public Art Space was installed in Trafalgar Square right beside the National Portrait Gallery in London as part of a series of interactive street art installations that encourage public participation, and engage them actively in the reclamation of public space. The Public Art Space aimed to provide a fun and playful experience for everyday people by providing a platform for freedom of expression within restricted environments where it was denied before. This urban intervention, a Public Art Space, consisted of four gold framed white boards of various sizes, each with its own attached dry wipe pen and duster. Underneath the four frames also sat individual engraved copper plaques reading Public Art Space. The installation was documented by photography and a recorded with a video camera.
